To Prewash or not to Prewash?
| This is a personal preference. But I suggest if you do prewash, prewash all the fabric for the quilt including borders and backing. Even good quality cotton fabric shrinks anywhere from 3%-5%. If I'm making a king size quilt of 110" for a bed, I know it could shrink 3.5" - 5.5", so I will consider making the quilt a little bigger in order to allow for some shrinkage. If I'm making just making a smaller throw quilt, I'm not concerned if it shrinks a little. |
